Class Listing

Want to learn something new?
You came to the right place! We have classes in Stained Glass, Polymer Clay, and just about anything else that we know how to do. We try to hold our classes when it is convenient for most people to take them. If a class isn't scheduled when you could take it, we can also do a class for you and three or more of your friends when it's best for you. Just call to schedule your class. If you don't see a class on something you would like to learn (art or craft related of course!), send us an E-mail and we will do our best to add it.

Polymer Clay

Polymer Clay is marketed under brand names like Premo!, Sculpey, Fimo, and Kato PolyClay. It is a relatively new medium that is taking the art and craft world by storm! The clay comes in 2oz or 1lb blocks in a variety of different colors. You can blend colors together to make the shade you need. Polymer Clay is like working with a slightly stiffer version of PlayDoh that never dries out. It can be worked with anything from simple tools to anything you would use with ceramic tools. There is none of the mess that you have with ceramic tools and you don't need an expensive kiln to fire the clay in. To finish a project, you simply bake the clay in an oven or small toaster oven at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30 to 60 minutes depending on the size of your project. It can be sanded, painted, molded, twisted, and shaped just about any way you can think of.

Canes are made in Polymer Clay by shaping and rolling the clay into 'snakes' or logs with the design running through the entire length. Thin slices can be cut off the end of the cane and put onto a variety of objects to decorate them. Thicker slices can also be cut and baked to make beads out of the cane pattern.

No previous experience with clay or Polymer Clay needed.

Floral Canes Floral Beads Two 2 hour sessions, $48.00

Stained Glass

Stained Glass has been around for hundreds of years. We have classes for both the "traditional" leaded stained glass method as well as the "Tiffany" copper foil method. The traditional leaded method uses strips of lead with a channel that the edge of the glass fits into. The copper foil method wraps the edge of each piece of glass with a 7/32" wide strip of copper foil. The pieces are then butted together and all the seams are soldered together. It sounds more complicated than it really is.

Don't want to make a big investment in tools for a hobby you might not want to continue? No problem. Our classes include the use of tools to make the projects. You only need to select and purchase the materials for the class. When we took classes in stained glass, we bought all kinds of tools we didn't need. Learn from our mistakes. We (obviously) would like to sell you everything you need to make your project, but don't want you to feel like you bought a bunch of stuff you didn't need.

When classes are not being held, you can schedule studio time and make use of our equipment until you decide that you want to get more involved with your new hobby.

Garden Charm 2 hours, $18.00

Always wanted to try your hand at Stained Glass but weren't sure if you would like it? Give this class a try! No previous experience with Stained Glass needed.

Glass Fusing

Our new location allows us to run bigger and better kilns than we ever could before! We will soon be offering several new glass fusing classes. Learn to create fused works of art from glass that has been "melted" at 1500 degrees F. Kilns from affordable tabletop models that can be plugged into a standard household electrical outlet up to large 'production' size models will be used in these classes. Want to make your own fused projects but don't want to invest in a kiln? We will also offer fusing space in our kilns to fuse your project for you.

Fused Tile or Plate
If you've never worked with hot glass before, you will be able to take a tile or plate fusing class. Decorate a tile or plate with pre cut pieces of glass, frit, stringers, noodles, and more. We will fuse your creation for you to pick up in about a week. All supplies will be included in the class fee and you don't have to have any experience with glass working. This is also a great class for birthday parties or you and a group of friends to take since it's not as technique focused.

Glass Bracelet
Learn to make your own beautiful bracelet out of fused glass! We will offer both a beginner version where you decorate the bracelet however you like and we will take care of the fusing and shaping for you. A more advanced class will show you all of the steps from decorating to flat fusing to hot working the blank into the finished bracelet.

Glass Fusing 101
If you already know how to cut glass and want to learn all about glass fusing, this is the class for you! This will be a several week class that will teach all about setting up your kiln, fusing schedules, coefficient (compatibility) of glass, and other information to progress into doing your own fusing at home. If you would like to take this class but don't yet know how to cut glass, you can either take our Garden Charm class or we can do a Technique class for you.
